Mistake #1: Mixing Different Goals in One Campaign
One of the most common issues is trying to achieve multiple objectives within a single campaign.
Examples:
- Prospecting and retargeting in the same campaign
- Brand and generic Search keywords in the same campaign
- Awareness and conversion-focused audiences in the same campaign
- Different product categories with different profitability targets in the same campaign
Why This Creates Problems
Different objectives require different:
- budgets
- bids
- KPIs
- optimization strategies
When they are combined, it becomes difficult to understand what is driving performance.
You may also find that one segment consumes most of the budget while another receives very little exposure.
Better Approach
Whenever possible, separate campaigns by:
- objective
- audience type
- keyword intent
- product category
The clearer the structure, the easier the optimization.
